Screening people for colorectal cancer before they reach 65 and are eligible for Medicare could save millions of dollars of future Medicare costs according to a New York City study.
While Medicare covers the cost of screening colonoscopies, people need to be 65 to benefit. Many uninsured adults from 50 to 64 have no way to get screened for colorectal cancer at all. Continue reading…

Big Day for Colorectal Cancer on Capitol Hill!
Yesterday, Chairman Tom Harkin (D-IA) and the rest of the Senate Labor-HHS-Education Appropriations Subcommittee approved its FY 2009 spending bill.
The bill makes major investments in healthcare including:
Colorectal Screenings – The Subcommittee provided $25 million to establish a nation-wide program to support colorectal screenings for low-income individuals.

Senator Kennedy Recuperating After Surgery
Longtime friend of C3, Senator Ted Kennedy (D-MA), is back at home in Massachusetts after recently undergoing aggressive surgery for a brain tumor. Because his tumor was operable, the 76-year-old is a candidate for the most promising treatments.

C3 Presents Congressional Champion Award
Earlier this month C3 had the pleasure of presenting our second annual Congressional Champion award to Representative Kay Granger (R-TX). The Representative was chosen to receive the award for all of her hard work in the fight against colorectal cancer.
